• If you are an instructor who wishes to access Lesson Plans made available in conjunction with various Chapters of the Website, you will provide us with information to register for access to such Lesson Plans.
• We may collect information from others, such as your instructors or school, or from third party applications that you use to access the Website.
• We may collect some information automatically, such as information about your use of the Website and the devices you use to access the Website. For example, we may use “cookies” and similar technologies to collect information from your browser or device when you visit the Website or otherwise engage with us. Such information may enable us to enhance the functionality and/or appearance of Website pages you visit; it may also be used to measure and analyze the usage of our Website to help us enhance our future educational offerings, including new editions or versions of the Website. Usage of cookies is not linked to any personally-identifiable information on our Website.

Examples of information we may collect include:

• Account registration information for Instructors to access Lesson Plans (e.g., username, email, educational institution)
• Non-personal information about your browser or device, your use of our Website, and your general location
• Information you may provide while engaging with us

You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time.

You can do the following at any time by sending us an email to textbook@aasc.ucla.edu: 

• See what data we have about you, if any.
• Change/correct any data we have about you.
• Have us delete any data we have about you.
• Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Security and Disclosure of Information

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information. We do not collect sensitive information, such as credit card data, but please see Note below regarding donation link.

We will not share, sell, or rent any personal information to anyone.

If you are an Instructor who registered for access to Lesson Plans, we may disclose your personal information (e.g., feedback on the contents of the Lesson Plans and/or other aspects of the Website) with authors, consultants, vendors, and other service providers working on our behalf.

We otherwise may disclose personal information only for compliance purposes, such as when reasonably necessary to protect the security of our Website, or when required by law.

PLEASE NOTE: If you click on the “Donate to AAPI Digital Collection Fund” button that can be found in the footer of the webpages of our website, you will be redirected to a webpage maintained by UCLA Development.
